Why you need uninsured motorist coverage (UIM)

In Indiana, all drivers must maintain $25,000.00 liability limits. That means if a driver negligently operates his vehicle and injures you, and he carries the state minimum liability limits, then $25,000.00 is the maximum insurance proceeds available to pay your medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. However, your damages may exceed $25,000.00.

That is where you can protect yourself by carrying UIM coverage. UIM coverage is additional coverage you can obtain from your own insurance carrier that will provide additional funds to compensate you for your injuries caused by a third party carrying only minimum liability limits.

Additionally, Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage may kick in to protect you if the person who causes your injuries does not have any insurance coverage.

If you have been injured in an accident, please consult an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible to help you recover what you deserve.
